SPL: Old Firm fans set to boycott away games

Celtic chief executive Ian McLeod reckons a boycott of Scottish Premier League matches by Old Firm fans could cost the rebel clubs £3m (€4.8m) in lost revenue.

Celtic and Rangers supporters are contemplating turning their backs on away fixtures in the wake of the 10 non-Old Firm clubs' decision to disband the SPL in two years.

McLeod told The Daily Record: "The 10 dismiss the idea that Celtic and Rangers create 80% of the SPL's wealth but get only 40% of the profits. But they still manage to get a higher level of profit, despite the fact that they draw a smaller audience than we do.

"And at the same time, these clubs hike up their prices whenever Celtic and Rangers go to play at their grounds. If we are all equal then why charge our fans more money?"
