Champions League: Owen out of Barcelona clash
Liverpool's delight at victory over Newcastle last night was tempered by the loss of Michael Owen for next week's Champions League crunch clash in Barcelona.
Owen damaged a hamstring in the second half and immediately signalled to come off.
Caretaker boss Phil Thompson said: "He will be out for a week to 10 days, he's very doubtful for Barcelona but will probably be fit for the league game the following weekend."
Thompson added: "I'm pleased for the players.
"You only have to look at the other results with Manchester United winning to know that it was important for us to stake a claim.
"[Nicolas] Anelka was outstanding and you just wanted him to have the ball all the time."
