SPL: O'Neill praises Advocat's record
Celtic could have the title wrapped up by Christmas, a victory over Dundee today would put them 14 points clear at the top of the table.
The Parkhead side have been out of the spotlight this week as Rangers announced the appointment of Alex McLeish as their new manager, but Celtic boss, Martin O’ Neill was happy to see the other half the city drop points earlier in the week as they drew with Hibernian.
“Any points dropped by our nearest rivals are gratefully accepted,” said O’ Neill.
O’ Neill would not be drawn on the appointment of Rangers new boss saying that Celtic are not concerned with affairs elsewhere.
Though he added that McLeish is a good manger who did well for Hibernian last season.
The Celtic manager also praised former Rangers boss, Dick Advocat saying, “his record speaks for itself”.
O’ Neill has some about keeping his three top-class strikers. Chris Sutton is back for today’s game while John Hartson has provided a selection headache scoring four goals in his last two starts.
Henrik Larsson is also showing signs of returning to his best form.
O’ Neill said that he is concerned that everyone wants to play as many matches as they can but it is his job to win football matches and if he does that, “at least I’ll be happy”.
