Nice guys Arsenal won’t finish first, says Paul Merson

Christmas is coming and, as Arsenal prepare to visit Manchester City tomorrow, Paul Merson is checking his list, he’s checking it twice and he’s coming to the conclusion that his old club are not naughty but nice.

And, unlike that other chap who favours red and white, the man they call ‘The Merse’ ain’t at all happy about that.

“That’s the problem with Arsenal, it’s too nicey-nicey,” he tells me.
