John O’Shea wants youngsters to push for places in Ireland team ahead of Euro 2016

John O’Shea won’t have any trouble adjusting his mindset from a relegation dogfight to the rather more stress-free environs of an international friendly tonight – but then, as a Sunderland stalwart, he has a bit of previous in this regard.

“I’ve done it throughout my career, switching concentration straight to international football,” he said on the eve of the match against Switzerland.

“It is very straightforward because of the atmosphere everyone has created here and the momentum that we’d like to keep going.
