Happy Ander Herrera will fight hard for his Manchester United place
The 26-year-old Spaniard has missed Unitedâs past two games with a hamstring injury but has not always been a first-choice selection when fit under Louis van Gaal anyway.
Van Gaal has utilised him in a variety of different positions and one national newspaper claimed Herrera would seek discussions about his future with the club.
However, in a message posted on Twitter yesterday, Herrera attempted to allay fears he is unhappy.
Alongside a picture containing part of an interview he did with the clubâs matchday programme for last weekâs game against PSV Eindhoven, Herrera said: âInterview given last week. Very happy at Manchester United.â
The image contains the pull quote: âI donât want this dream to finish. I have to play as well as possible if I want to play as long as I can at this club.â Herrera, who has made 45 appearances and scored 11 times since moving to England, had stated in the interview he was determined to fight for his place having moved from Athletic Club in the summer of 2014.
âWhen I was in Spain, I always thought about the best teams in the world and maybe the biggest and most-supported club is Manchester United,â he told United Review.
âSo I worked very hard to be here. When I was in Spain, I was very professional and had to be very consistent to get here.
âNow I am here, I always say the same thing: the most difficult thing is to stay at a big club.
âOf course, it is difficult to arrive at a big team in the first place, but it is even harder to stay there.
âThe club has the possibility to sign new players and itâs a very powerful club so all players want to play here. I have to fight for my position and gain my position and I will do it.â
