Lenihan out of hospital after suffering concussion at Bohs

The injury suffered by Cork City’s Brian Lenihan in Friday’s loss to Bohemians is not as serious as first feared.

Right-back Lenihan was stretchered off after a nasty fall, with the game held up for 10 minutes.

It was the Rebel Army’s first league defeat in nine games, but thankfully it has not been compounded by the loss of the Republic of Ireland U21 international for anything longer than a fortnight.

“Cork City FC are pleased to confirm that Brian Lenihan has been discharged from hospital in Dublin,” a club statement read. “It has been confirmed that a scan has shown that Lenihan, who was injured in last night’s game against Bohemians, has not suffered any serious injury.

“The 20-year-old has suffered concussion, but it is hoped he will be available for selection again within the next two weeks.

“The club would like to thank the medical staff who attended to Brian, the staff at the Mater Hospital and Bohemian FC for their assistance following the incident.”
