Celtic carrot for St Pat’s

St Patrick’s Athletic will be rewarded with a possible Champions League tie against Celtic if they can see off Legia Warsaw next week.

Pat’s drew 1-1 with Legia in their second qualifying round first leg tie last Wednesday night while the Scottish title-winners on Tuesday secured a 1-0 first-leg victory over KR Reykjavik in Iceland.

In the Europa League, if Sligo can complete the job against Rosenborg after their shock 2-1 win in Norway on Thursday, they will face Turkey’s Kardemir Karabukspor.

Derry City’s reward should they fight back from a 1-0 first-leg home defeat by Belarus’ Shakhtyor Soligorsk will be a clash with either Zulte Waregem of Belgium or Zawisza Bydgoszcz of Poland.

And if Dundalk can overturn a 2-0 deficit in the second leg against Hajduk Split in Croatia, their opponents in the next round will be Lithuanians FK Atlantas or Shakhter Karagandy of Kazakhstan.
