Pachuca striker Enner Valencia has undergone a medical at West Ham ahead of a move to the Premier League club.

The 25-year-old scored all three of Ecuador’s World Cup goals, attracting the attention of a number of suitors in the process.

It appears West Ham have won the race to sign Valencia — who will become manager Sam Allardyce’s fifth summer signing if the deal is completed following a medical.

Pachuca chairman Jesus Martinez said: “I won’t talk about prices, but if he is sold, it will be the highest transfer fee ever in Mexican football football, otherwise he won’t be sold.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is keeping his fingers crossed a fifth summer signing will arrive on Tyneside within the next 24 hours.

Holland full-back Daryl Janmaat’s agent has claimed the 24-year-old is due in the north-east today after significant progress in talks between the Magpies and Feyenoord.
