Arsenal are not in for Doyle, says McCarthy

WOLVES manager Mick McCarthy appealed for fans to be patient following the lack of signings so far this summer but remained confident that star striker Kevin Doyle will start the season in an old gold shirt.

Arsenal are not in for Doyle, says McCarthy

The former Ireland boss insists Doyle ‘loves it’ at Molineux and Arsenal, who were reported to be making a £12 million bid for the Ireland striker, have not contacted anyone at Wolverhampton.

“I can’t tell you anything except what was in the papers and I’m not going to comment on some speculative story,” said McCarthy.

“What I can tell you is that Doyle loves it here. He enjoys coming here to work every morning and we love him here and we enjoy him coming to work here every morning.

“That goes for everyone else as well and that will remain the same until anything different happens.”

The Wolves boss is pleased to have signed Jamie O’Hara, even though the former midfielder ignored McCarthy’s pleas and snubbed an opportunity to represent Ireland.

McCarthy said: “We got the first one we wanted and that Premier League experience we targeted in Jamie O’Hara.

“We’re all delighted with that — everyone. We saw how well he played and we all saw how he added quality to the team.”
