Hill returns to Cobh hot seat
An experienced defender in England and at Cork City and Bohemians, Hill had followed his previous spell at St Colman’s Park by taking up the job of assistant boss at Turner’s Cross, a role which ended with the exit from City of then manager Damien Richardson.
Back at Cobh, Hill will head up a management team of joint assistant managers Darragh Burke and Alan O’Sullivan, with Simon Burke and Peter Rowe on the coaching staff.
Hill, who will oversee the resumption of training in the coming days, has said that he will not spare any effort to have Cobh promoted back to the Premier Division as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, in a blow to the plans of double-winners Bohemians, Jim Roddy has tendered his resignation as chief executive of the club after just a brief spell at Dalymount Park.
The former Derry City chairman is due to return to Foyleside where he will take up the post of chief executive of the City Centre Initiative.
Roddy said: “I have been made to feel very welcome at Bohemians and I believe that the club has huge potential. It feels strange to have cut my links with football but I just could not turn down this opportunity.
“I would like to thank the board of Bohemians for offering me the opportunity to work at their club but I have been offered the chance to represent the city where I was born and that is very important to me.”
Elsewhere, the chairman of relegated Finn Harps has hit out at rumours he says are affecting the fundraising campaign currently being undertaken by the club.
Derek Wilkinson claimed: “Unfortunately over the last week, the club has become increasingly concerned in relation to a number of rumours which have been in circulation. These rumours would seem to infer that Finn Harps do not have a financial problem and that the appeal is only a way to supplement the budget.
“I can assure the public that all funds raised are going towards the elimination of Finn Harps outstanding debts.”
