Gill set to part with Dundalk
Despite leading the club to the First Division title in sensational last-gasp circumstances at the weekend, Gill had finished the title-winning season with his future already in doubt on the back of a strained relationship with the board.
Reports last night indicated that club and manager have gone their separate ways after Gill’s contract was not renewed, leaving the new Premier Division club to begin the search for his successor.
Among the names being linked with the post are former Galway United manager Tony Cousins and ex-Shamrock Rovers boss Pat Scully.
Meanwhile, English Championship side Derby County will have a look at young Irish right-winger James O’Shea this week ahead of a possible move.
The 20-year-old Galway United player will train with Paul Jewell’s side this week under the watchful eye of the Rams boss.
A fee, believed to be around €380,000, has been agreed between the clubs if Derby decide to keep the youngster. “We are having a look at him for a week. If we like what we see and he likes us, maybe we can do a deal,” said Jewell.
