Tynan exit confirmed

CORK CITY yesterday confirmed that general manager Aidan Tynan is stepping down from his role to pursue other business interests.

Tynan exit confirmed

Club owners Arkaga installed Tynan last summer to oversee the changeover of control brought about by the arrival of the investment firm.

The former Bord na gCon chief executive will be remaining with the club until such time as his successor has been appointed, according to a statement issued yesterday.

“I am delighted with the progress that the club made during my tenure,” said Tynan. “I have no doubt that it will continue to go from strength to strength. We now have a very distinctive new crest, a strong brand identity supported by hummel and a much stronger team which have all contributed to a significant increase in attendances.”

Tynan’s role in Cork hit the headlines on the day of the FAI Cup victory in December when the City board were publicly criticised by captain Dan Murray. Soon after that, ex-manager Damien Richardson’s protracted dismissal led to the arrival of new boss Alan Mathews.
