City vice-chairman Little resigns

BUSINESSMAN Jim Little has resigned as vice-chairman of Cork City and his investment in the club has been taken over by the Arkaga Fund, the private equity firm for which he worked.

Dermot Killeen, deputy chief executive of the Arkaga Fund, said: “We are excited about our involvement with Cork City and look forward to working with (general manager) Aidan Tynan and the club’s executive team to realise the club’s full potential.

“We believe that football in Ireland has a bright future and we have been very encouraged with the initiatives of the FAI to develop the eircom League.”

Announcing his resignation, Mr Little said: “I’ve really enjoyed my involvement with Cork City FC and I’ve no doubt that the club will go from strength to strength.”

Thanking Jim Little for his contribution, Aidan Tynan added: “My key objective now is to build on that work and to develop a strategic plan for Cork City FC to help it become the preeminent football club in Ireland”.
