Luton defender Davis suffers stroke
IPSWICH’S convincing 5-0 Coca-Cola Championship win over Luton was overshadowed by news that 27-year-old Hatters defender Sol Davis had suffered a stroke.
Davis is in a specialist hospital unit after suffering the stroke on the Luton team coach on the way to Ipswich.
Luton manager Mike Newell said: “We kept quiet about it until after the match but it puts everything into perspective.
“It happened 25 minutes after leaving Luton and I am told that it might take six months before he makes a complete recovery.
“He has had an MRI scan but I am not qualified to talk about that. I am not going to use it as an excuse for our performance but we will never know what effect it had on the lads.”
Ireland’s Alan Lee scored a hat-trick with the other Ipswich goals from Sylvain Legwinski and Jaime Peters.
