Carr on road to full fitness after injury nightmare
The Tottenham right-back played his first full 90 minutes for more than a year in Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
The Republic of Ireland international said: “It was a great relief to play 90 minutes and get back into the swing of things. It has been a long time coming and I’ve had lot of big disappointments along the way. But it feels good at the moment and psychologically this game was brilliant for me. It did feel like I would never get back playing. It got to the point where I found it quite hard to just bring myself to watch football. I hardly watched any of the World Cup because even though I wanted Ireland to do well, I knew it was something I was missing out on. It would have been the biggest thing in my career. I missed the season with Spurs and that was also very disappointing, but everyone wants to play in the World Cup and losing out was very hard to come to terms with. I am still only young, though, and hopefully I will get another chance at a World Cup and European Championships.”
