Di Canio to await his fate

CHARLTON have all-but finalised fresh deals for three of their four out-of-contract players — but will leave Paolo di Canio sweating on his future until the summer.

Di Canio to await his fate

The Addicks have handed one-year contract extension offers to Shaun Bartlett, Chris Powell and Graham Stuart.

Striker Bartlett has signed, left-back Powell says he is “certain to” and Graham Stuart is also poised to commit.

However, veteran front man di Canio asked for a new deal two months ago but has heard nothing back from the club.

And boss Alan Curbishley yesterday revealed the 36-year-old Italian must wait until the off-season before learning his fate.

Curbishley snapped up di Canio last summer when he was released by West Ham would have loved to have signed him earlier in his career.
