Holland can’t afford to fail, says Numan

FORMER Holland defender Arthur Numan believes Dick Advocaat’s side will have to go into hiding if they fail to qualify for Euro 2004.

Scotland bar their way in the play-offs and the home side at Hampden Park on Saturday will contain a number of Numan’s former team-mates at Rangers.

The Dutch are hot favourites, but Numan knows their failure to qualify for last year’s World Cup finals means nothing can be taken for granted.

He said: “Missing out on the World Cup was a disaster. Now we have a final choice to qualify for Euro 2004 through the play-offs and If we don’t get there this time, then instead of getting a plane back to Amsterdam they should fly to the Caribbean.”
