Yorke denies struggling Wolves vital win
Yorke headed Blackburn's equaliser 12 minutes from time against the club with whom he has been repeatedly linked this week.
Wolves had promised to send their absent manager Dave Jones a fine get well soon message until substitute Yorke's intervention.
Jones was in bed with a bad chest infection but must have been cheered when he heard news of his side's comeback.
Captain Paul Butler's fine 63rd minute header cancelled out Andy Cole's 14th minute opener for the visitors.
And Alex Rae's sweet finish nine minutes later briefly threatened to steer Jones's men marshalled for the night by new coach Stuart Gray off the foot of the Premiership.
But Wolves were ultimately denied by Yorke who could have done even more harm when he blazed across the face of goal with four minutes left.
Henri Camara was restored to the Wolves line-up after injury as Jones' men sought to erase memories of their near-embarrassment at Kidderminster on Saturday.
But Camara's poor finishing cost his side dear in a first half they largely controlled.
The Senegal international constantly stretched the visiting defence but once again appeared to panic with the goal at his mercy.
The magnificent Rae came close for Wolves in the 13th minute when Shaun Newton squared Lee Naylor's excellent long-ball only for the Scotsman's shot to be blocked in the box by Martin Taylor.
Seconds later Brett Emerton was steaming away down the right flank and the Australian reached the Wolves goal-line before cutting back for Cole to notch his sixth Premiership goal of the season.
Nathan Blake replaced the injured Steffen Iversen on the half-hour and immediately set up a chance for Camara who fired wide from the edge of the box.
Camara missed a much easier chance in the 38th minute when Blake crossed low from the left and the African shot wide of Brad Friedel's other post.
Rae fired high over the bar from close range then Camara created the simplest of chances for Mark Kennedy in first-half injury time but the midfielder slipped over alone in the box as he shaped to shoot.
Captain Butler began Wolves' dramatic revival when he jumped highest to steer Rae's free-kick past Friedel in the 63rd minute.
Two minutes later Camara came close yet again when he struck the base of Friedel's left-hand post from Kennedy's corner.
And in the 72nd minute the influential Rae curled Wolves' second home after a neat one-two with Blake on the edge of the box.
But Wolves' points were far from secure with Oakes called to make a fine low save from substitute Yorke's header three minutes later as the game exploded belatedly into life.
And in the 79th minute, Yorke made the breakthrough when he capitalised on sloppy defending to bundle home Emerton's right-wing free-kick.
