The Grand Slam dream may be dashed and advantage in the title race ceded to France but Ireland must approach this Saturday’s Guinness Six Nations finale against Italy as if they still have a shot at more silverware.

The 2025 Triple Crown winners had hoped this weekend’s trip to Rome would see them gunning for a history-making third championship in a row and a second Grand Slam in three seasons. France’s demolition at Aviva Stadium last Saturday has seen those plans go up in smoke following a 42-27 hammering by Fabien Galthie’s side.
