Scotland back-row forward Allister Hogg has been ruled out of action for at least 12 weeks.

Scotland back-row forward Allister Hogg has been ruled out of action for at least 12 weeks.

A consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon this morning confirmed he has suffered medial ligament damage to his right knee.

The lengthy lay-off rules him out of the autumn Test series at Murrayfield and will come as a blow after he recovered from an elbow problem.

He will discover the extent of the damage in a scan in the near future.

Hogg sustained the injury during Edinburgh‘s Magners League match against Cardiff Blues last Friday night.
