New jerseys leave rugby fans spoilt for choice

Rugby fans have been spoilt for choice ahead of this year’s Six Nations with a chance to sport three different Irish jerseys.

The Irish Rugby Football Union unveiled a new championship jersey in the run up to the clash with Italy this Sunday, while two other styles will also be in the shops.

Players will line out in the new strip for the first time in Rome and the replica jerseys will be available to buy from Thursday, February 3.

Padraig Power, IRFU commercial and Marketing Director, said the change was needed after three years of the same top.

“The recent change to the alternate jersey has proved extremely popular amongst supporters and we are confident that the new design of the home jersey will prove even more popular,” he said.

The new home jersey remains mainly green, with a white under-arm and side panels, whilst the two white hoops on the sleeve have been removed.

The new top leaves fans having to pick between three styles.

The traditional classic loop-neck poly-cotton jersey with a standard fit will continue to be available, a new armourfit-pro jersey has been introduced, appealing to young fans, and the armourfit-test authentic playing top will also be on sale.
