Chalmers appointed Melrose coach

Former Scotland international and British Lion Craig Chalmers is to return to Melrose as first-team coach.

The 34-year-old fly-half won more than 50 caps for his country in a career which also saw him play south of the border at Harlequins and most recently at Worcester.

Chalmers is expected to combine his new role with playing and will meet next week with club officials to discuss the appointment of a forwards coach.

Melrose president Norman Elliot said: “The club are delighted a player of Craig’s experience and passion for the club will again be involved at The Greenyards.”
