Anthony Foley’s high praise as Sale Sharks snap up Peter Stringer

Munster coach Anthony Foley believes Peter Stringer will make another big impact with a new English club after it was confirmed that the durable 37-year-old scrum-half has been signed by Sale Sharks on a one-year contract from Bath.

Stringer has enjoyed two remarkable seasons in England’s West Country and could well end up with an Aviva Premiership medal this season – his club meet Leicester Tigers in the semi final at the Rec on Saturday – and now moves on to a new base in the north west.

“Fair play to the man,” said his former playing colleague Foley yesterday, “And when he’ll go there, he’ll add something. He’s not just going there to add another year to the CV or tick a box. He’s going there to get into the side ahead of Chris Cusiter, force his way in and extend his career even further.
