Junior rugby: Muskerry send Saints packing
John Herlihy gave them an early lead with a try which Conor Buckley converted. Senan’s levelled with a try by Dave Dunne and Declan Rowe converted. A try by Aidan Murray and a Buckley conversion had the visitors 14-7 ahead at half-time. Joe Treacy scored a third try and Buckley added two penalties.
Kilfeacle ran in six tries in their 44-15 away win over Tralee. David Kiersey, Brian Lowry, Ciarán Lowry, Danny Lambe, Conor Hartigan and Diarmuid Carr were Kilfeacle’s try scorers and James Hogan kicked five penalties and a conversion.
Champions Clonmel crushed Old Christians 51-12. Paudge Keating (2), David Foley, Alex Sheehan, Darren Cass, Stephen Pike, Greg Carroll and Luke Hogan were Clonmel’s try scorers and Conor Cooney kicked four conversions and a penalty. Fionn O’Leary and Niall McCarthy replied with tries for the losers while Seán Meaney kicked a conversion. Clonakilty came from 15-8 down to defeat St Mary’s 22-15. Declan White scored two tries for the west Cork side and Alex O’Mahony got one. Eoin Deasy kicked two conversions and a penalty. Seán Lyons and Robin Gallagher had tries for the Limerick men. Lyons also kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Newcastle West finished the campaign with a 30-13 win over Galbally. Stephen Kelly (2), James Kelly, Seán Corbett and Tommy Kelliher were try scorers for the winners and Seán Herlihy kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Bandon were crowned Second Division champions after they received a walk-over from Killarney. Clanwilliam also picked up the points when Crosshaven failed to travel to the Tipperary venue. Youghal will have to wait another few weeks to know if they will be relegated to Division Three, after they completed their season with a 48-3 away defeat at Thurles.
Abbeyfeale defeated Ballincollig 39-5, Waterford City had a 5-0 win at Ennis while Newport and Presentation played out a 20-20 draw.
Cork Constitution defeated Sunday’s Well 19-17 to win the South Munster Junior League title and there was double celebration for the club also claimed the Donal Walsh U20 trophy with a 27-17 win against Young Munster.
