Crosshaven aim for first ever title

The Cork side advanced to the last four with two impressive high scoring away wins but had to survive a stern test from Sligo last time out.

The kicking of Liam Delaney will be vital to their cause as will the set piece play of Rory Hofler and Jake Grey coupled with the talented Michael Buckley and Rob Barry.

Andrew Lane is a capable finisher while Eamon Ring’s pace and power make him a difficult proposition for any tackler. Second row Merle O’Connell has played many high profile ties with Cork Constitution and his experience could prove vital.

Monivea are desperate for national glory. They have dominated Connacht in recent years but have fell short of qualifying for senior status. They will be fired up to claim a victory and it should prove an entertaining clash. The game kicks-off at noon and is the curtain raiser to the Bateman Senior Cup final where Bruff face Dungannon.

Musgrave Park hosts the Munster Junior Plate final on Sunday with Killarney facing Newport. Killarney, who won promotion from Division Three last season, have had good recent form with away wins against Mallow, Kanturk and Castleisland but Newport, who won the Junior Bowl last season will represent a strong challenge.

Following their promotion to the Second Division, Presentation concentrate their attentions on the Transfield Cup but face a tough trip to Newcastle West. Mark Phair has been outstanding for the Rathuard side but the Limerick outfit, backboned by Tommy Kelleher and Rory Keating, will be a tough proposition.

The seconds league quarter-finals are on Sunday with Junior Cup finalists Cork Constitution bidding to extend their winning run against Shannon. UCC host Young Munster with the young dynamic college side getting the vote.

Both Musgrave Park residents face difficult trips to Limerick as Dolphin face UL Bohemians while Thomond look too strong for Sunday’s Well.

The South Munster U21 Cup final is fixed for Wednesday with Cork Constitution facing Highfield.
