Glasgow glee as star prop Low agrees new deal
The 25-year-old, who joined the Warriors as an apprentice in 2006, made his Scotland debut against France in the 2008 RBS 6 Nations and has won five international caps and is certain he will continue to improve at Glasgow.
Low said: “I’m delighted to have re-signed with Glasgow because it’s a great club and good for my development as a player. I believe the more young players we can keep here the better, so I’m happy to have made sure my future is in a Glasgow jersey.”
Warriors head coach Sean Lineen added: “Moray has so much potential and I think it’s just fantastic that he’s signed with us. He’s got a great work ethic and it shows his ambition to stay with Glasgow.
“He’s becoming a leader and playing for Scotland is what he deserves. He will be one of the key men in the future years of Glasgow.”
The tight-head prop’s stay was confirmed on the day the Warriors’ new training base at Scotstoun Stadium was officially opened following an £18m (€20m) redevelopment.
Meanwhile, England hopeful Chris Ashton has signed a new two-year contract with Northampton. The 22-year-old former Wigan Warriors rugby league star, the leading Guinness Premiership try-scorer, has been named in England’s elite squad ahead of the RBS 6 Nations Championship.
Wing Ashton has collected 15 tries in 16 games this season, including nine in the Premiership, and has amassed 67 touchdowns from 62 Northampton starts since joining them two-and-a-half years ago.
“The Saints has been a great club to be a part of over the past couple of years,” he said. “I am still learning and I believe I can improve a lot.
“It’s exciting to be at a club going places. We are ambitious to be one of the top clubs in England and Europe, and we can only get better.”
Saints rugby director Jim Mallinder believes Ashton is benefiting from the hard work put in since Saints regained Premiership promotion back in 2008.
