Injury blow for Bath

Bath coach John Connolly fears his influential number eight Zak Fea’unati could be out for up to two months after going off in the 27-15 win over London Irish at the Recreation Ground.

Connolly said: “He may have a fractured eye socket which could mean an eight week lay-off.

“When he blows his nose his eye bulges and that’s usually a pretty sure sign.”

Bath spent all of the second half searching for a fourth try that would have given them a bonus point and Connolly added: “It’s a funny feeling - we played some good rugby in the first half but lost our shape.

London Irish counterpart Gary Gold said: “We lost to a better team. Saying that, we probably played our worst rugby of the season in the first half.”

He added: “We let ourselves down and fell off tackles. If you do that you can’t expect to win against a team like Bath.”
