Injured Mulrennan out two months
Paul Mulrennan expects to be out of action for at least another two months at least after breaking his right leg in a fall at Musselburgh in June.
The rider sustained the injury after his mount, Sound Advice, dived through the running rail shortly after making a winning debut in the Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Maiden Stakes.
"I had another X-ray last week and it's healing really well. They are really pleased with the progressing I'm making so hopefully there's not too long more to go now," he said.
"You can't dwell on these things. It can happen anywhere and I'll be back riding sooner rather than later, hopefully.
"I've got a few pins and screws in there. I'm looking to get them out towards the end of the year.
"I think it will benefit be more riding with them out, especially with the dangerous job we do.
"The specialist thought if I happened to break it again with them in it would make a real mess of the leg.
"It's going to be another two or three months, I'm not sure. I've just got to take each day as it comes.
"It's healing well, that's the main thing," the jockey told At The Races.
