Newcastle cancel check

Newcastle have cancelled their planned 8am inspection and racing goes ahead as scheduled this afternoon.

Clerk of the course James Armstrong decided to check the track as some frost remained in the ground on Monday, but conditions have improved sufficiently overnight.

“I was in at 6.30am and it was fine so we didn’t need to have a look,” said Armstrong.

“The frost came out of the ground overnight as it didn’t drop below 3C and we also had six millimetres of rain which has turned the ground to soft, good to soft in places.”
