Rumoush bypasses York date
Marcus Tregoning has decided not to run Rumoush in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York next week and is eyeing an autumn campaign for the filly.
The Lambourn trainer wants to give the filly more time and is considering the Pride Stakes on Champions’ Day at Newmarket in October as a possible long-term target.
She ran creditably in both the 1000 Guineas and Oaks and was a close third in a Group Three race at Deauville two weeks ago.
“We’ll hang on to her a bit longer I think. No particular plans for the moment, but she won’t go to York,” he said.
“She’s fine but we want to give her a bit longer. You have to be patient with some of these horses. She’s very tall.
“You’ll see her in the autumn, definitely. There’s the Pride Stakes late in the year, that’s a possibility on Champions’ Day.
“That’s a long way off and there might be something before then. The main thing is to space her races right.”
