Walsh wins 'Sportswoman of the Month' award
Jockey Katie Walsh, has been announced the winner of The Irish Times / Irish Sports Council ‘Sportswoman of the Month’ for the month of March.
The award comes after her outstanding sporting performance at the Cheltenham Festival this year where she scooped two first place wins.
This is the 25-year old’s first time to win the ‘Sportswoman of the Month’ award since the awards began in 2004.
Walsh will battle it out with the other monthly winners to be named the Sportswoman of the Year in January 2011.
The winner is decided by a judging panel, which is represented by individuals from The Irish Times, RTÉ, and the Evening Herald.
