Nickname gets going at Leopardstown

Nickname finally makes his seasonal reappearance in the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown tomorrow.

The best two-mile chaser in Ireland has been absent from the scene since March due to the unseasonably fast ground earlier in the season.

Martin Brassil’s stable star is a real mud lover and the going at Leopardstown, currently good, good to yielding in places, will be plenty quick enough for him.

He will face five rivals in a small but select field as he bids for back-to-back wins.

Mansony, second behind The Listener last time, will be suited by the drop in trip, while In Compliance also returns from a long lay-off.

One of last season’s top novices Schindlers Hunt will represent Dessie Hughes, along with Central House while Foreman completes the line-up.

Michael O'Brien would also like to see easier conditions for In Compliance, who is having his first race since finishing third to Neptune Collonges in the Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup in April.

“I would have preferred the ground to be a bit soft. He’s fine and hopefully he’ll give a good account of himself,” said O’Brien.
