Elletelle wins Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot
Irish raider Elletelle swooped late to collar the front-running Starlit Sands in the final strides of the Queen Mary Stakes today.
Trainer Ger Lyons has enjoyed a fine run with his runners in Britain this season and the 20-1 chance was given a peach of a ride by Johnny Murtagh.
Seb Sanders set a blistering gallop on Sir Mark Prescott's Starlit Sands and burned most of her rivals off, but she could not resist the late lunge of Elletelle, who prevailed by half a length.
Tommy Stack's The Loan Express also made late ground to finish a fine third.
