Belmont Stakes winner Jazil has been ruled out of the Breeders’ Cup Classic and will now be prepared for a crack at next year’s Dubai World Cup.

Jazil had recently returned to training after recovering from a bruised bone in his right hind leg but trainer Kiaran McLaughlin will not hurry the colt’s progress in order to make the November 4 meeting.

“He’s galloping every day, doing great, and we hope to work him in the near future,” he told www.bloodhorse.com.

“It’s too close to try the Breeders’ Cup. I was in Lexington last month with (owner) Sheikh Hamdan, and he told me ‘don’t get in a hurry. Don’t push him. Let him tell you when he’s ready’.”

McLaughlin will now look towards the March 24 contest at Nad Al Sheba, with the Group One race also under consideration for stablemate Invasor.

He added: “I think the Dubai World Cup would be a very important goal for both Invasor and Jazil. And one of them, or both of them, will point that way.”
