Rightway looks the right choice
The Cockney Rebel colt was well touted prior to making his debut over a mile at the Curragh, but could only finish third behind Feach Ar Agaidh and this week’s Killarney winner, Blackstone.
He travelled like a dream through the contest, until tiring in the closing stages, and should be all the shaper for the experience and also be suited to dropping down a furlong in trip.
Jim Bolger’s once-raced Flight Risk, introduced in a Listed event at the Curragh in September, is of obvious interest, but the biggest danger could be Dermot Weld’s newcomer, First Sitting, who is by Dansili and a brother to Group 1 winner, Emulous.
Feature race is the Challenge Stakes and the vote here goes to Weld’s Pale Mimosa, although some rain would certainly increase one’s confidence in her ability to do the business.
Last seen when third to Ascot Gold Cup hero, Leading Light, at Navan two months ago, she missed that contest because of the quick ground.
At Killarney this afternoon, Willie Mullins’ Laviniad can prove the best bet on the card in the Aherns’ BMW Castleisland Maiden.
Formerly trained by Jim Bolger, she has been gradually getting her act together for Mullins, finishing third behind in-form Panama Hat and Stronger Than Me at Naas last week.
The fourth horse then, Teoirim, scored at Fairyhouse on Sunday.
