Responsibly can lead rivals a merry dance

Henry de Bromhead’s Enjoy Responsibly is fancied to lead his rivals a merry dance in the Tullamore Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan tonight.

He is clearly no star, but likes to bowl along in front, jumps well and the more the surface dries out the better it will be for the five-year-old.

On his latest appearance, at Tipperary last month, Enjoy Responsibly attempted to make all, but was grabbed after the final flight and beaten two and a quarter lengths into second by the relatively experienced Roman General.

It will be a surprise should the same tactics not be adopted again and, with the talented Kevin Sexton taking 5lbs off, the selection should take plenty of pegging back.

The Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle can go to Massini’s Brook, making a quick reappearance after finishing a remote seventh behind Thekingofconnemara over three miles at Cork a week ago.

Massini’s Brook ran well for a long way then and, down in trip, will surely strip fitter, not having previously been seen since taking a bumper at Clonmel in November.

At Dundalk, Michael Halford’s Westpieser can finally deliver in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Race And Stay Package Median Auction Fillies Maiden.

She got bogged down in the testing conditions when no match for Dermot Weld’s Vintage Nouveau at Clonmel eights day ago and all of her best efforts have come on this track.

Johann Strauss, hooded and not to be trusted, is still hard enough to oppose in the Dundalk Stadium Racecourse Of The Year Maiden.

He finished sixth of 14 behind Charlie Appleby’s Sudden Wonder in a valuable contest at Newmarket last time and this is far easier.
