Improving Won In The Dark can do the business
After losing his way somewhat, the selection was afforded a decent break and has been nursed back to something approaching his best by Sabrina Harty.
He reappeared at Punchestown last month, finishing second behind Cousin Vinny, after being produced much too early by Andrew Lynch.
Then at Leopardstown earlier this month, Won In The Dark was outclassed by Pittoni, but stayed on stoutly to be beaten two lengths into second and can confirm the form with third placed Oilily, who was a further half a length away.
That mare hampered Won In The Dark turning for home and there is no reason to think she will reverse the placings.
Willie Mullins trains the likely favourite for the Explicit.ie Maiden Hurdle in Tennis Cap. This is certainly a good opportunity for the five-year-old, but he is becoming very costly to follow and preference is for Jessica Harrington’s Johnnys Legacy.
He showed some promise in two outings over flights, as a prelude to improving plenty on the flat on the all-weather at Dundalk.
Harrington can also supply the answer to the Mardyke Bumper with the four-year-old Director’s Form. He finished a remote fifth of seven first time out at Naas, but looked a different proposition subsequently when third to Noel Meade’s newcomer, Ange Blanc, at Punchestown.
