Magnier thinks positive
The Coolmore supremo believes there were a number of contributing factors behind the Australian import’s defeat.
The five-year-old now has options in the Coral-Eclipse and King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, and Magnier believes the Aidan O’Brien-trained giant will be seen in a better light wherever he runs.
“That wasn’t one of our better days, the whole thing, and I believe that our horse will have another day,” Magnier told At The Races.
“There was a combination of factors, but we’ll just wait and see what happens next time.”
Meanwhile, Sri Putra is set to go for another top 10-furlong prize after taking third place in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
As long as trainer Roger Varian is happy with the five-year-old and the state of the ground then Sri Putra will have another crack at the Coral-Eclipse on July 2.
The son of Oasis Dream was only beaten half a length by Twice Over in the Sandown showpiece last summer when sent off the 33-1 outsider of five.
