The beautifully bred daughter of Galileo made a good start at the Curragh ten days ago and, hopefully, will build on that.
She was towards the back of the 18-runner field from an early stage, but made significant late progress to fill fourth spot in a contest won by her stable companion, Misty For Me.
The selection is very well drawn this evening and the manner in which she finished at the Curragh would indicate that the extra furlong now is made to measure.
Dermot Weld’s highly regarded newcomer, Zaminast, a half-sister to Famous Name, is almost certainly the biggest worry.
Weld, who trained the winner of the first race yesterday, can start his evening by saddling Universal Truth to land the opening Topaz Maiden Hurdle.
A triple bumper winner, he has been rested since enjoying a pop over flights at Leopardstown at Christmas.
Although eventually beaten a long way when third to the smart Whodouthink, Universal Truth jumped and travelled nicely through the contest and can be expected to arrive at the peak of his powers.
Weld also has possibilities with Northern Rocked and Parlour. Northern Rocked was second to Sixteen Forty Two at Listowel last month and the likely easier surface is a plus.
Parlour, a newcomer by Dansili, won’t have to be any star to get it right at the first time of asking in the caulfieldindustrial.com EBF Maiden.
Feature event is the Topaz Mile EBF Handicap and there is little cause for optimism regarding finding the winner.
The nod falls on Drombeg Dawn, who has performed with real consistency all season and should relish the uphill finish. She does, however, have to overcome a bad draw in four.
