Dulgodti Bob set to strike in Bumper

EIGHT contests, moderate racing and a massive number of runners make Fairyhouse this afternoon a minefield for punters.

Dulgodti Bob set to strike in Bumper

Dessie Hughes' Dulgodti Bob is a hopeful nap choice to land the Black Bull Bumper.

The Bob Back gelding performed adequately on his debut when 14 lengths fourth behind Lakil Boy at Thurles in early January.

He wasn't seen again until late last month, showing significant improvement to finish two lengths and a neck third to Noel Meade's well-regarded Ballintra Boy and Limestream.

That looked a much hotter contest than the Thurles one and the manner in which the selection battled on in the closing stages was encouraging.

Celtic Ross makes the long journey from Cork to the Meath track and Robert Tyner's gelding has a leading chance in the Ratoath Handicap Chase.

The nine-year-old indicated his turn wouldn't be long delayed when third to Beau Colina and Coolnahilla at Navan over today's trip, two and a half miles.

He then faded from the second last, over three miles and a furlong, when a remote fourth to Beau Colina at Fairyhouse subsequently.

Behind in fifth was Sunday's Limerick winner, Berkley, and, down in trip again, Celtic Ross can at least go close.

The frustrating Reine Des Reines may be worth a final shout in the first division of the Ashbourne Maiden Hurdle. She is taking a hefty drop in class, having finished third to Liverpool winner, Asian Maze, and Mrs Wallensky on this track last time.
