Webster takes clubhouse lead in Durban
England’s Steve Webster faced a long wait today to discover just how valuable his second-round 60 was at the Nelson Mandela Championship in Durban.
The opening event of the European Tour season was cut to 36 holes after no play was possible on Thursday and Friday, and was taking place on a course with a reduced par of 65 because of saturated fairways.
Webster’s score took him to seven under par and he held the early clubhouse lead, but Spaniard Eduardo de la Riva was one in front of him with four holes to play and South African Tim Clark, joint leader after his five-under first-round 60, had not even teed off again yet.
