Frazar sets the pace at US Open
Four days after his first PGA Tour victory came in his 355th start, American Harrison Frazar grabbed the early lead in the US Open today.
The 39-year-old birdied the 494-yard par-four 11th as rain fell over the Congressional course close to Washington.
Just as importantly, Frazar had parred the dangerous short 10th, a new hole with a lake in front of the green which in the first 30 minutes of the event saw double bogeys from German Marcel Siem and American Marc Turnesa.
Irelandâs Shane Lowry was the first of the 35-strong European contingent into action and he parred the first two holes of the less demanding front nine.
