Ireland open up gap at Mission Hills

Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell stretched Ireland’s lead at the Omega Mission Hills World Cup to five strokes midway through today’s second round foursomes.

After posting a superb 14 under par in yesterday’s first round fourballs to open up a three shot overnight lead, two birdies and an eagle left the close friends in a commanding position over Italy as the Irish duo reached the turn in four under 32 to leap to 18 under par overall.
