Seve delays trophy decision

Seve Ballesteros is to make a late decision on whether to attend the closing stages of the Vivendi Trophy – the old Seve Trophy – in Paris this weekend.

Ballesteros had four life-saving operations after the discovery of a brain tumour last October and is still recovering.

“I was hoping to attend personally but I am feeling very tired at the moment as I have just finished my radiotherapy treatments, which I have been receiving over the past month,” said Ballesteros in a statement.

“I will wait until the end of the week to decide if I’m able to attend or not.

“I send the players and captains my best wishes and I hope that they enjoy the spectacular St-Nom la Breteche club as much as I did in the past.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all my fans around the world for continuing to send me their best wishes for my recovery. I really miss you all.”

The 52-year-old wants to return to the Open at St Andrews next July to show his gratitude for all the messages he has received.
