Bookie makes Clarke favourite for RTÉ award

Darren Clarke has emerged as the bookies' favourite at 11/10 to win this year’s RTÉ Sports Personality Award, which will be taking place this Saturday.

Paddy Power have placed him ahead of Paul O’Connell and Padraig Harrington, the joint second favourites at 2/1.

Also listed is boxer Bernard Dunne at 25/1 and Derval O’Rourke, whose price has been slashed from 20/1 to 12/1.

“When Darren failed to win the BBC Sports personality award we ran a poll on our website asking people to vote for who they think should have won,” said Paddy Power spokesperson Sharon McHugh.

“Over 50% of voters chose Darren Clarke, so we think he’s definitely in line to pick up the RTÉ Sports Award.”
