Rain halts progress at Carton House

The Nissan Irish Open could be forced into a fifth day after heavy rain caused play to be suspended during today's final round.

Darren Clarke held a two-shot lead after eight holes when play was halted shortly after noon at Carton House.

Play had started early in an attempt to complete the €2.2m event before a forecast spell of bad weather this afternoon, but persistent rain saw the Colin Montgomerie-designed course becoming waterlogged.
