McGinley leads at Valerramama

Ireland's Paul McGinley leads the field at the Volvo Masters in Valderrama.

McGinley is two shots ahead of the chasing pack, on -9 after 11 holes.

Colin Montgomerie had looked to coasting towards a win, having led since early on. However, he is having a torrid day today. His pushed approach at the ninth into sand led to a bogey five.

As that happened McGinley, who had been four over early in his second round, hit his second to the 10th to within 18 inches of the flag and holed it to lead on his own at -9.

Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia are two behind on -17 after 17 and 20 holes respectively. Montgomerie is one shot further back again.
