Quigley holds nerve to win play-off

Dana Quigley sank an 11-foot birdie putt on the first play-off hole to edge out Gil Morgan and win the rain-plagued Bayer Advantage Classic.

The pair had tied on 11-under-par 133 in an event shortened to 36 holes.

Already shortened to 36 holes due to rain, the event was delayed at the start for nearly five hours on Monday. Quigley and Gil Morgan completed their rounds on Sunday and were in the clubhouse at 11-under-par 133.

Tom Watson, the local favourite who is from Kansas City, played 12 holes on Monday at six-under 66 to join Quigley and Morgan, forcing a playoff. Watson nearly won in regulation, but his long birdie putt at number 18 hung on the lip of the cup.

Playing on a course he designed at the Nicklaus Golf Club at Lions Gate, Jack Nicklaus, likely playing in his last Champions Tour event, signed for a 73 and finished at two-over 146.
