Carl Mason assumed his usual position at the top of the European Seniors Tour leaderboard after second round of four under par 68 took the Englishman into a three- way tie for first place at the Tobago Plantations Seniors Classic.

The 51-year-old is in a three-way tie alongside Jamaican Delroy Cambridge and Scotland’s Bill Longmuir, who carded respective second round scores of 67 and 69.

Mason, the Seniors Tour Order of Merit winner for the last two years, is the defending champion at the Tobago Plantations Golf and Resort and is looking to secure the 10th Seniors Tour victory of his remarkable career in tomorrow’s final round.

“It was just one of those good days out there today,” said Mason. “I just felt that I was going to play well and I did just that. Tomorrow will be a great battle and hopefully I can get the 10th win and defend my title.”
